Food Skills: Healthy Cooking on a Budget

Course Information

We are fortunate to be able to offer this is a great free program. In this six-week program, participants will learn how to cook a variety of different dishes while being conscious of budget. At the end of each session, the group will share a meal together. One week, the class will go on a field trip to the grocery store where they will learn about how to purchase food affordably. Because each member of the class will assist in the making of a meal each week, it is important that participants attend every session. 

Session topics include:

  • Session      1: Variety for Healthy Eating
  • Session      2: Vegetables, Fruits & Whole Grain Foods 
  • Session      3: Protein Foods & Healthy Fats
  • Session      4: Planning Healthy Meals, Snacks and Beverages
  • Session      5: Savvy Shopping (Supermarket Tour)
  • Session      6: Celebration! 


Location: Arrowsmith Hall, Coombs Fairgrounds - 1014 Ford Road, Coombs, BC
