The Arrowsmith Community Recreation Association (ACRA) is a non-profit organization, led by a dedicated volunteer board of community members and three part-time recreation coordinators. ACRA strives to connect the community of Arrowsmith, (Electoral Area F) through sports, arts and culture and works hard to offer the rural residents of Errington, Coombs, Hilliers, Whiskey Creek, and Meadowood a wide variety of free and affordable recreation programs and events. Although all of ACRA's programs are located within Area F, people from all over are welcome to attend programs and events.
ACRA started out as ACES (Arrowsmith Community Enhancement Society) in 2003 and was renamed ACRA in September of 2013, although the organization continues on with the dedicated work of ACES volunteers.
ACRA prides itself on its connections to this diverse and unique community. Today, ACRA works closely with 11 community organizations and 45 local businesses to run 22 recreation programs and to assist in the organization of 10 major community events. ACRA also writes and assists with community grants and attends many community meetings. You may have seen members of the ACRA team at the Coombs Fairgrounds for Family Day, at the Errington War Memorial Hall for African Hand Drumming, or on the trails with our popular walking group, the Sole Sisters.
ACRA also maintains a community cupboard where we keep musical instruments, craft supplies, first aid kits, and other recreation equipment. These materials can be loaned, for a small donation, for community programs and events. Contact us to learn more about this service.
