Adult Guitar Beginner Level 2

Program Information

Join Sterling and learn guitar! Sterling has been playing guitar for over 20 years and wants to share his passion for music and life with others.

The beginner Guitar Level 2 acoustic guitar program is intended for those that have taken Beginner Level 1 with Sterling already, or who have equivalent experience.

To be on the same level as those that have taken Beginner Level 1, participants should have a basic understanding of the following:

  • Parts of guitar
  • Name of strings, posture, terminology (frets, notes, finger placement for chords etc.)
  • Know all 8 open chords G, D, C, E minor, E major, A minor, A major, and D minor, and have the ability to play them
  • Be able to switch from one chord to another smoothly (slow is ok)
  • Know how to play a few beginner friendly songs
  • Be able to read chord diagrams
  • Know a few simple strumming patterns

The aim of this class is to build on the foundations learned in Beginner Guitar Level 1. You will learn new chords and chord progressions, more fun strumming patterns and a few songs that will challenge you in a fun relaxed environment.

Sterling is on a mission to prove to you that with consistent practice and a willingness to learn, you will improve and thank yourself later.  In this hands-on class, you'll learn to pick out tunes by ear and be introduced to a variety of chords and strumming patterns. Sterling will demonstrate the part and have the group follow along.

NOTE: Please only bring a guitar to the classes and a music stand if you have one. If you don’t have a guitar, rentals are available to take home and practice for $30 for 8 lessons.
