    Mid Island Programming Club

    Course Information

Welcome to the Mid Island Programming Club, a community-driven initiative dedicated to making programming accessible and engaging for all skill levels. Our club brings together tech enthusiasts, learners, and geeks of all levels to explore the world of software development, gaming, modern application architecture, and web design.

Our mission is to foster a supportive learning environment where individuals of all backgrounds can:

     - Develop programming skills

    - Collaborate on projects

    - Build confidence in technology

We believe that programming is a powerful tool for creativity, problem-solving, and career growth, and we strive to make it accessible to our local community. Workshops include:

    • How to Make a Video Game
      • Let's learn how to make our first video game! No prior programming or game development experience necessary.
    • Programming with Go
      • Go is a high-level, general purpose programming language. This workshop will give you a crash course on the Go programming language. Prior programming experience at a basic level is necessary.
    • Version Control in Git
      • Learn the basics of version control in this workshop. Prior programming experience is useful, but not required.
    • Vim Text Editor
      • Vim is, at its core, a text editor. Many modern software engineers choose vim because of its flexibility and speed. In this workshop, we will teach you just enough vim to get you going. Some understanding of the command-line terminal is useful, but not required.
    • Learn VSCode
      • VSCode (Visual Studio Code) is an open source code editor, also known as an IDE. In this workshop, we will teach you all the tips and trick that will show you how to get the most out of VSCode. Prior programming experience is useful, but not required.
